The benefit of a food sensitivity test isn't always the obvious reason.

We think of food sensitivity tests to find out why you may have gas, bloating, or a general feeling of unwellness after eating certain foods, and that's a great reason to get checked, but there's more.

Matt will often use this lab with clients who have autoimmune conditions. Autoimmunity means inflammation, and what can cause a steady flow of inflammation? Foods that your body doesn't like right now.

Even if you don't feel the distress, your body could be actively marking foods you feel as safe, as antigens. They can be seen as enemies to your body, and therefore you create inflammation in the process of attacking it. 

This adds to your "inflammation bucket" and makes your journey even tougher.

What does the Food Sensitivity test check for?

This lab checks for an IgA and an IgG response to 209 common foods. View the sample report to see the complete list. Here are the general categories:

Why two measurements of testing?

We look at two different antibody responses; IgA and IgG.  They are created within the body differently and can give us a picture of what your body is saying.

IgA - These antibodies are produced in the mucosal lining of your digestive tract. Your digestive tract is one of the first responders when food proteins enter that it doesn't like. The IgA antibodies are created as a first line of defense to warn you that the intestinal lining may be irritated or damaged from this perceived invader.

IgA antibodies on your lab can mean exposure to that offending food about 8-12 days ago. 


IgG - These antibodies are the most common in the blood and are created by most of the cells in your body. IgG antibodies have a much longer half life and can tell more of a story of your food history and sensitivities.

Why is wheat itself not tested?

To make a long story short, an accurate wheat sensitivity test isn't easy due to the multiple proteins in wheat. So, Vibrant America created the Wheat Zoomer that takes those proteins and breaks them all down to peptides and tests you against all of the peptides. This gives us, with 100% accuracy, and no cross-reactivity, the data we need on how your body reacts to wheat.
