A late 19th century oil on canvas depicting a resting shepherd and dog in a mountainous landscape. The work is initialled 'J.L' to the lower right and dated 188[?] (the last number is obscured by the frame). 

The work is beautifully done and of lovely proportions. The shepherd's face in particular is very well executed. The work is in excellent condition throughout. The right side of the frame has a small chip to the gilt and the left corner shows some  (please see photographs). 

A very attractive work.
