As a result of 40 years of experience and collective understanding, Sage has determined the very specific demands that modern Spey anglers place on their reels. This information was applied and perfected in the SPEY II Reel Series. The sealed, carbon fiber disc and dual-clicker drag system is reliable and durable, while the updated model sizing and reel foot location provide improved balance and performance.

Mass and balance were given equally-high attention in the design process as the model sizing was updated to better align with matching Spey rods and the location of the reel foot was adjusted to provide uniform axial balance with the rod. A full-frame design eliminates the possibility of shooting lines slipping between spool and frame while the addition of a machined radius around the reel foot offers comfortable wrapping of leader, tip, or tippet. Completing the package is a classic and elegant aesthetic of porting and laser engraving that Spey anglers can acknowledge and appreciate.

DRAG SYSTEM:

• Newly formulated O-ring seals for a stronger seal and resistance to wear and fatigue
• Custom dual clickers for increased amplification, durability, and limited free spool rotation so distance not inadvertently decreased while fishing
• One-Revolution Drag Knob with twenty, numbered drag settings and half-detents for precise, consistent, and replicable drag settings

FRAME SYSTEM:

• Fine-tuned balance for the Spey system as a whole
• Strategic reel portings resulting in an overall weight that is appropriate for longer Spey rods
