Keeping the magnification at a modest 8x helps to limit visible hand-shake and allows for a wider field of view versus higher-power binoculars.

Complementing the optical performance are construction details that make the binoculars durable and comfortable to use. These details start with a lightweight, impact and corrosion-resistant polycarbonate chassis that is protected by green rubberized armour. This armouring is textured to give the binoculars a nonslip grip, especially in cold and wet conditions. The optical tubes are nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and fogproof - especially in extreme weather conditions. A right-eye diopter adjustment allows the binoculars to be customized to most people's needs, and the twist-up eyecups provide comfortable use with or without eyewear.
