Hawaiian Room at the Hotel Lexington brought Polynesian escapism to midtown Manhattan starting in 1937. For three decades, New Yorkers packed the place for hula dancers, tropical cocktails, and bamboo-draped atmosphere on Lexington Avenue. Before tiki culture swept the suburbs, this New York nightclub was already the real thing.
Part of our Vintage Tiki collection, celebrating the defunct golden era bars of yesteryear.
The Details:
Distressed white cursive script reads "Hawaiian Room" beside a vintage hand-drawn illustration of a hula dancer in a grass skirt beneath a palm tree, with small seated musicians and scattered star accents. Block sans-serif text reads "COVER CHARGE AFTER 10:00 P.M." with "$1.50 MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY" and "$2.00 FRIDAY AND SATURDAY." Stylized vintage lettering at the bottom reads "HOTEL LEXINGTON" above "NEW YORK, NY."
