Similar in design and functionality to its predecessor, the BMV-702, Victron has integrated built-in Bluetooth connectivity into the BMV-712 Smart Battery Monitor, enabling users to access vital information from their battery monitor via smartphones or tablets. Offering enhanced battery maintenance and energy usage tracking capabilities, these monitors prove invaluable for battery-based systems. With Bluetooth integration, the BMV Smart aligns with the Internet of Things (IoT) trend, facilitating wireless communication between various Victron Energy products for simplified system installation and improved performance. The accompanying Victron Bluetooth app allows for easy customization of settings, monitoring of important data on a single screen, viewing of historical data, and software updates to access new features. Installation is straightforward, with all electrical connections made to the quick-connect PCB on the current shunt, which connects to the monitor via a standard RJ12 UTP cable. The BMV-712 also features midpoint voltage monitoring to detect potential issues in battery banks connected in series, helping prevent damage.
