Picture description

Gyokawa Sanpei Munenori was one of the 47 Ako Ronin whose real name was Yokokawa Munetoshi (1667-1703).
He committed seppuku in 1703, under the intervention of Yamanaka Danroku, a vassal of the same family. He was 37 years old.

Anecdotes of Chushingura
Muneyoshi, under the alias of Koichiro Mishima, stayed at the residence of Takeyoshi Horibe. He stole and read a letter from a tea master about the date of a tea ceremony to be held at Kira's residence, and reported to Oishi that the tea ceremony would be held on the 14th, and the date of the raid was decided. The Chuo Gishi Kai said, "This is more credible than the story that Otaka got the information from Yamada Sohen or that Oishi got the date from Hagurazai.
