An Edwardian emerald and diamond three-stone ring, c.1905. Set to centre with an oval shaped natural emerald with a lovely saturation and evenly distributed colour. It is delicately claw set in an open back setting, allowing light to freely pass through the stone and enlighten it from within. Total approximate emerald weight 0.51ct. Flanked by two smaller old-cut diamonds, claw set diagonally to a unique ‘tourbillon’ style with scrolling openwork that effortlessly leads to a solid 18ct gold shank. This ring reflects the aesthetics of the contemporaneous Art Nouveau movement which celebrated nature and the fluidity of the ‘free line’. Asymmetrical yet perfectly balanced, this ring is a lovely example of early 20th century craftsmanship.
Unless stated otherwise, gem weights and specifications are estimated (assessed in mount).
