As per the standard hardness, some of our customers get about 2 years out of a pin whereas other will purchase a new pin yearly. Pin life is dependant on how hard your material is, how hard you are marking and the frequency of use. Companies replacing a pin a year typically mark 350 grade, operating the unit frequently all day.
High hardness would be preferential when marking alloys and stainless steels frequently.
