2020 AOP Arbois 'Terres Bleues'
From two lieux-dits: Petit Curoulet and La Chenaillotte. Age of the vines: 15 to 40 years, with north-west exposure. The soils here are all blue marl. Direct press, and then fermented and aged in a mix of tun and sandstone amphora. Not fined or filtered. Aged in a mix of tun and sandstone amphora for 18 months, topped up regularly. 13% alc.
Golden colour. Notes of macadamia, hazelnut, lemon verbena, plus toast with butter and honey. The palate is rich and deep, before a wave of acidity picks everything up and carries it away. Lacquers the mouth and has a salty edge. Crisp apple, lemon and lime, and lots of mineral tension. Exceptionally long and well built – this is a food wine. Powerful, and will age gracefully.
