A golden glimpse into Jeju’s heritage, reborn for today
OMEGI Sool (오메기 맑은 술) is a handcrafted Korean rice wine that embodies the island spirit of Jeju. Brewed by Master Artisan Hee-Sook Kim (김희숙 명인), a recognized preserver of Jeju’s intangible cultural heritage, this drink carries centuries of local tradition into the modern glass.
The name “Omegi” comes from omegi tteok (오메기떡), a rustic rice cake made from millet that was once central to Jeju’s festivals and rituals. By transforming this humble food into a refined drink, Omegi Clear Rice Wine symbolizes Jeju’s resilience, community, and deep connection to nature.
Brewed with water, millet, rice, and nuruk, the wine ferments for 15–20 days, after which only the clear upper layer is carefully drawn to create a clean, elegant liquor. The result is a shimmering liquid with hues of pale gold and green, offering a balance of gentle sweetness, lively acidity, and delicate fruit notes.
Tasting notes reveal fresh orchard fruits, light honey, and a playful tang, finishing smooth yet refreshing—much like a Korean interpretation of a fine sake or light white wine.
Best enjoyed slightly chilled, Omegi pairs beautifully with grilled fish, sashimi, or lightly seasoned Korean dishes, enhancing their natural flavors with its bright and fragrant character.
