This vehicle has known issues with the coils and spark plugs. When these fail the ECU will be damaged. In order for the warranty to be valid, you need to make sure the vehicle's coils have been replaced with Motorcraft DG514 and the spark plugs have been replaced with Motorcraft SP433 before the ECM is installed. If these units have not been replaced prior to the ECM being installed, we will not be able to warranty this item in the event the injector/coils are damaged in the ECU.
This ecu will interchange or replace the following vehicles with a 3.0L engine and has one of the part numbers listed above:
For Plug and Play you must do the following three steps:
Step 1: Match your part number per above fitment guide
Step 2: Program ecu to your VIN. Along with PATS programming your local locksmith in mosts cases can perform this task for you along with step 3. If not you will need to see your local mechanic.
Step 3: If your vehicle has PATS security (Most Ford/Lincoln/Mercury's do) you must have your keys programmed. We recommend you have this done by your local locksmith. In most cases they will travel to your location and the process takes less than 30 minutes. No towing necessary and your local locksmith will be cheaper than a dealer.
