Heroes Vs. Villains Children's Ministry Curriculum Lesson Overview

    Memory Verse:

Don’t let evil overcome you. Overcome evil by doing good.” Romans 12:21

    Lessons:

Moses the Freedom Fighter vs. Pharaoh the Hard Hearted
Scripture: Exodus 14:19-31, Moses vs. Pharaoh
God gave Moses a huge job. He asked Moses to face the most powerful leader in the world and ask him to free the Israelite people. Moses must have been so afraid, but God gave him courage.
Objective: Kids will say, “God will give me the courage to face my enemies.”

    Shepherd vs. Warrior
    Scripture:1 Sam 17: 32-50, David and Goliath
David was the only Israelite brave enough to challenge the giant Goliath. But David’s bravery didn’t come from his self-confidence, it came from his confidence in God.
Objective: Kids will say, “God will help me in my battles.”

Obedient Elijah vs. Ahab the Idolater
Scripture: 1 Kings 18:19-39, Elijah vs. Ahab & Jezebel
God called Elijah the prophet to confront Ahab. Ahab had married someone who worshipped false gods and led others to do the same. In an epic showdown, each side asked their god to send down fire, but only the one true God was faithful.
Objective: Kids will say, “When I’m in battle, I can pray to God.”

    Bold Beauty vs. Slimy Scoundrel
Scripture: Esther 4:7-17, Esther vs. Haman
Not long after Esther had been selected as queen, Haman, a court official of King Xerxes, tricked the king into sentencing all of Esther’s people to death. Esther knew she had to speak up.
Objective: Kids will say, “In battle, God’s timing is perfect.”

Fearless Friends vs. a Cruel King
Scripture: Daniel 3:10-30, Shadrach, Meshach, & Abednego vs. King Nebuchadnezzar
Shadrach, Meshach, & Abednego refused to bow down and worship the statue of King Nebuchadnezzar. This got them in a lot of trouble, but they chose to obey God no matter what.
Objective: Kids will say, “I can obey God, even in battle.”

A Real-life Battle of Good vs. Evil
Scripture: Matthew 4:1-11, Jesus vs. Satan
Jesus had been in the wilderness for 40 days without food when Satan came to tempt Him. In a true battle of good versus evil, Jesus uses His knowledge of the bible to defend himself from Satan’s temptations.
Objective: Kids will say, “I can use Scripture to defeat the enemy of temptation.”

    _______

    Each Lesson Includes:

    • Make It Stick! Parent Sheet - so you can let mom and dad know what kids are learning each week and look like a rockstar teacher who's thought of everything.
    • Memory Verse - so that you can make sure kids are getting Scripture in their minds and hearts every single week and you can feel like each lesson was a success even when it seems like 90% of your lesson time is spent saying things like "calm down", "let's be quiet", "hands to yourself!"
    • Skit or Puppet Show - so you have a way to easily connect the lesson with your hands-on and visual learners. No drama team? No problem! Just hand the script to the kids. They'll have a blast and think you're the coolest.
    • Craft Activity - so you can give kids a physical reminder of the Bible lesson (and give yourself an activity to keep them busy until mom and dad come back!)
    • Game - so kids don't leave and say church was BORING! Games are so important to help keep kids engaged. Our large group games always include a "What's The Point" section to help you connect the game to the lesson.
    • Large Group Lesson - so you can present the Bible story in a clear and fun way, which means now you can enjoy Saturday nights instead of stressing over putting a lesson together!
    • Small-Group Discussion - so you can find out who was paying attention and who was talking to their neighbor.  Just kidding, this is a great way for you to build deeper relationships with your kiddos after each lesson, which means you're going to care about them so much you'll cry like a baby when they graduate and go to middle school :(
    • More! - Yes, there is even more than all of that so that you can easily put together the perfect lesson for your ministry each weekend, which means no more agonizing over how to adjust complicated lesson plans.
