Original watercolour and bodycolour (gouache) and chalk on paper, framed floated and raised in on a soft white mount, in a white wood grain box frame. The artwork is behind low reflect 70% UV filter glass and measures 80 x 60 cm.
This Shetland Norn word (Skrim) describes a glimpse or something seen indistinctly. As Peter painted this artwork he was thinking of his experiences seeing the Aurora and Northern Lights. Sometimes glimpsed vividly, and other times just a faint glow in the sky. In the Northern Isles the phenomenon is locally called the Mirrie (or Merrie) Dancers because of the gentle waving or shimmering motion seen.
