The Scribo La Dotta Bamboo fountain pen is a rare fusion of Italian craftsmanship and Japanese artistry, created as the first chapter of a trilogy inspired by shōchiku-bai — the “Three Friends of Winter”: Bamboo, Pine, and Plum. In Japanese culture, bamboo represents resilience, clarity, and the strength to bend without breaking. Scribo brings this symbolism to life through meticulous artistry and meaningful design.

Crafted by Urushi master Takeshi Matsuyama, the La Dotta Bamboo features traditional Urushi lacquer with an Ishime finish — a textured, grainy surface reminiscent of frozen winter earth. The barrel is decorated with maki-e artwork in gold and silver powder, tracing a stylised bamboo silhouette that reads like a natural ideogram, marrying symbolism with visual elegance.

Each pen is individually numbered 01/68 to 68/68, pantograph-engraved on the filling system ring beside the edition name, Bamboo Limited Edition. The cap carries the signatures of the artist and SCRIBO, the latter engraved in katakana, creating a refined harmony between Japanese tradition and Italian identity.
