'The Class And Orders Of The Linnaean System Of Botany' by Richard Duppa, published by Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme and Brown, London in 1816. First edition thus. Complete in three volumes. With 240 engraved plates, 237 of which were hand coloured.
This scarce set is three-quarter bound in tan calf leather with marbled boards and gilt stamped title and banding to the spines. All volumes show signs of shelf wear but the boards remain firmly affixed and the bindings tight.
Bookplate of 'Craig-Laurie of Redcastle' to the front pastedown of each volume. A slip has been cut from the front flyleaf of all three volumes (please see photographs), otherwise all volumes are in an excellent condition internally with all pages and engravings remaining clean and bright.
