Over the years, our pink bot has had the chance to cup numerous tables of different coffees with varying processing types, varieties, and…humans. It’s noticed a trend. Every person speaks coffee flavors as a language but with different dialects (none are incorrect! All are welcomed).

Some folks lean into simplicity (“cherry”, “nougat”, “flowers”). Others into specifics (“black cherry”, “Snickers”, “jasmine pearls”). Finally, some go full personification. Robotically, it’s our favorite because it always sticks with us the most.

“That coffee’s a pretty pink princess.” (quote by talented buyer and close friend, stolen by BOTZ). On a cupping table, such a statement might be confusing when chatting flavors, but for BOTZ, it jolts our CPU/neural pathways and we start asking questions. What princesses do we know? How many of them seem “pink”? Royal, in many cases, does their disposition lean toward fairness or self-infatuation? Are they loud and energetic or quietly confident?

Pink bourbon Option-17 from La Pradera was the first “pretty pink princess” we’ve encountered on the cupping table. Certain renditions said “Red”, but her “Pink” BOTZ version is Highlighter. Her routine sashays – the acidity is delicate, sweet, and piercing, like the freshest pink lemonade. The sweetness pops like a bubblegum bubble from a member of the Pink Ladies in Grease. Your cup will be like cotton candy – full and huge all at once, only to quickly and mystifyingly melt away. Cherish her. She’s pretty. She’s pink. A bourbon and princess!

(Coffees from La Pradera have always had a unique artificial candy-like flavor/sweetness to us. This does highlight pink flavors in our robotic opinion!)
