We almost fell out of pink bourbon madness (an insatiable condition where one needs a juicy brew of a pink bourbon lot each morning). But what is Botzonia if there’s no pink bourbonia? Finca La Guaca to the rescue.

As you know, BOTZ loves pink bourbon with all of its robotic tin heart, so we’re very keen to taste and observe any new flavors the variety may possess as well as unique characteristics we may notice while sampling. Option-16 from Finca La Guaca represents what we call “mini torpedos”. It’s a complicated BOTZism, but when we see it, we have a feeling things are about to get densely juicy.

“Mini torpedos” are one of our favorite pink bourbon bean shapes. We’re sure there is a unique and scientific explanation for these smaller elliptical-shaped beans, but for simplification purposes just know that we think “mini torpedo” = buoyant and zippy juice. Plainly and frequently (although not always of course...) we have a BOTZ rule - torped-O means need-O.

We prize “mini torpedos” for a host of reasons. More times than not, we find mini beans require a rather delicate approach in the roaster. They tend to tumble in the drum with an intensely rhythmic cadence (yes, we log slosh cadence decibels…or at least have tried). Small beans also tend to fit nicely and neatly into our bags (in contrast to the delicious yet huge pacamara…our bag arch nemesis).  

We find this particularly pink bourbon option to offer an intense medley of red and yellow fruits (think blood orange acid pop with cherry sweetness) with a dense caramel saturated finish (like immediately crunching a purple tootsie pop at the barber shop...). If the flavors call to you, please be mad once more with Option-16 from Finca La Guaca and become one with the torpedo. Pink bourbonia Botzonia depends on your brews!
