Louise Heighes crafts her handmade leather artworks at her studio in Margate, England. Building on her fashion background, she cuts, weaves and folds the material into 3D shapes to create unique art pieces for the interior design market.

This piece is inspired by the differently shaped feathers on a bird’s wing. Louise wanted to create a design that is more geometric than many of her other works, with the feathers arranged in simple arcing lines. She produces the textured artwork by making incisions in the top leather sheet and carefully pushing through pieces from another sheet below. The inclusion of gold feathers adds an eye-catching detail that emphasises the leather’s grained surface.
