A pendant lamp originally designed by Gino Sarfatti in 1950, with two offset opaline diffusers suspended beneath a slim black aluminum canopy. Reissued by Astep in 100% recycled PMMA.

The Astep Model 2065 was drawn by Italian lighting designer Gino Sarfatti in 1950, during the postwar period when Sarfatti's Arteluce studio was redefining modern lighting. The defining design move is the two offset diffusers — rather than stacking concentrically, the upper and lower discs sit on slightly different axes, breaking the symmetry of a standard double-shade pendant and producing the visual signature of the piece from any angle of approach.

Diffused output across both disc surfaces, no direct glare

The fully opaque PMMA body scatters light across both disc surfaces rather than projecting it downward. The output reads as evenly diffused at ceiling level, with no visible bulb and no direct downward beam — usable at standard ceiling heights above seating or dining without glare at eye level.

Green Cast® 100% recycled and recyclable PMMA

The diffusers are produced in Green Cast®, a patented Italian PMMA made from 100% recycled methacrylate and itself fully recyclable. Optical properties and surface finish match virgin PMMA, so the recycled material doesn't compromise diffusion quality or visible finish — Sarfatti's 1950 design holds in a contemporary material specification.
