This is one of three woodblock postcards I purchased from a seller in Japan; this is one of two wonderful monkeys from 1932. According to the Japanese zodiac, those born in the year of the monkey have magnetic personalities and are witty and intelligent as well as mischievous, curious, and clever, which can make them very naughty! I am not sure this particular monkey looks to be a social magnet, but he does look likely to be plotting! And what a fantastic treatment of the stump he is perched on, with this minty green framing his brown body; just beautiful.
