One of three lush, strongly graphic old theorem watercolor paintings of fruit today, purchased together in Pennsylvania--and making me think about the kinship between theorems (made using stencils, and with glass straws used for blowing the base level of watercolor paint) and airbrushed designs. Surely all done by one person, and a faint penciled number at the corner of each suggests they were likely part of a larger series (one sees similar numbering on antique watercolors of flowers, birds, butterflies, where a series of different species were represented.) I'll never get over the very modern feeling crispness and visual punch of examples like this, and especially like that this radiant apple was portrayed bottoms up!
7 5/16" x 5 1/2" and in very good condition.
