Effects of this medicine
This medicine inhibits sodium and chloride reabsorption in renal tubule to show diuretic effect, which reduces circulatory blood flow to decrease blood pressure.
It is usually used to treat hypertension (essential, renal, etc.), malignant hypertension, cardiac edema (congestive heart failure), renal edema, hepatic edema, premenstrual syndrome, edema caused by peripheral vascular disorder and facilitation of the excreation of urinary calculi.
Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)
・In general, for adults, take 2 to 4 tablets (40 to 80 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, once a day for couple of days, or every other day. The dosage may be adjusted according to disease, age and symptoms of the patient. In the case of renal dysfunction, etc. , you may be advised to take much more dose. However, for the treatment of malignant hypertension, this drug is usually co-administered with other anti-hypertensives. Strictly follow the instructions.
・If you miss a dose, take a dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and follow your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.
・If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.

・If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
・If you have anuria or hepatic coma.
・If you are patient whose amount of sodium and potassium in the fluid has been apparently decreased.
・If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
・If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)
Precautions while taking this medicine
・During the first 1 to 2 weeks of medication, your urine output will increase within 10 minutes to 3 hours after taking the medicine. Plan your commuting/driving timing.
・This medicine may cause dizziness/lightheadedness due to decreased blood pressure. Be aware of operating in potentially hazardous activities such as working at heights and driving a car.
・When you need sufficient rest than usual, take the medicine in the daytime so as to avoid urinating during the night.
