Chatham patten boat badge from HMAS Voyager (D31). The familiar U shape to a destroyer badge, Chatham Pattern. A very rare badge from a Ship that served extensively in the inter war period and early stages of WWll. HMAS Voyager (D31) was a W-class destroyer built for the Royal Navy during World War I and later transferred to the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Launched in 1918 as HMS Voyager, she served briefly with the Royal Navy before being loaned to Australia in 1933 and subsequently commissioned into the RAN.

HMAS Voyager served extensively in the interwar period and early stages of World War II, operating in Australian and Southeast Asian waters. At the outbreak of World War II, she performed escort and patrol duties and was later deployed to the Mediterranean in 1940. There, she participated in convoy protection, shore bombardments, and support operations, including the Battle of Greece and the evacuation of Crete. Voyager returned to the Pacific in 1941 and took part in operations in the Dutch East Indies. On 23 September 1942, during a mission to land Australian commandos and supplies on Timor, Voyager ran aground at Betano Bay. Unable to be re-floated and under threat of Japanese attack, she was scuttled the next day by her crew after ensuring the commandos had landed safely. Her loss marked the end of a distinguished service career that spanned two world wars and multiple theatres of conflict.
