Herman was born in 1964, in Gallup, NM. He learned silversmithing from his mother. He is known for his detailed and unique stamp work which is created by using very few stamps. He is a known local artist, and his jewelry is very popular in his hometown.

The Bisbee Mine was originally founded in the mid 1870's and by 1975 when it was closed had become the largest and richest mine the world has ever known. The matrix in the stone are mostly brown, called chocolate matrix, lots of collector of turquoise loves this mine.
