AUSTRALIAN SCIENTIFIC pH 7.0 Calibration Solution 500ml is a neutral buffer used to calibrate, check, or reset the zero-point of pH meters and probes. It is the primary calibration solution used before adjusting to acidic or alkaline calibration points.
AUSTRALIAN SCIENTIFIC calibration fluids are the official buffers used with APERA INSTRUMENTS water control tools such as the PH60 and PC60 pocket pH testers.
These pH buffers are standardised at 25°C, colour coded for easy recognition, and electrometrically checked against standard primary buffer solutions in accordance with NIST using traceable reagents.
For accurate hydroponic nutrient testing, it is recommended to calibrate with pH 7.0 first, then proceed to pH 4.0 for acidic calibration or pH 10.0 for alkaline calibration.

📏 Used to set the zero-point of pH meters
🌡️ Standardised at 25°C
🎨 Colour coded for easy identification
✔️ Compatible with APERA INSTRUMENTS PH60 and PC60 pocket testers
📜 NIST traceable reagents
The pH 7.0 buffer sets the neutral baseline (zero-point) for pH meters. Starting calibration with this buffer ensures accurate readings across the entire pH range when testing hydroponic nutrient solutions.
Using the neutral buffer first helps ensure reliable measurements when calibrating additional points such as pH 4.0 (acidic) or pH 10.0 (alkaline).
Prepare the Electrode
Rinse the pH probe with distilled or deionised water and gently blot dry with tissue. Avoid wiping the probe to prevent static.
Prepare the Buffer
Pour a small amount of AUSTRALIAN SCIENTIFIC pH 7.0 Calibration Solution into a clean container. Never place the probe directly into the bottle.
Immerse the Probe
Place the electrode into the buffer solution.
Allow Reading to Stabilise
Wait 1–2 minutes for the meter reading to stabilise.
Adjust the Calibration
Activate the meter’s calibration function and adjust the reading to pH 7.00 if required.
Rinse the Probe
Remove the electrode and rinse with distilled water before moving to the next calibration buffer or returning the probe to storage.
🌡️ Temperature matters: Calibration solutions are temperature dependent. Use at stable room temperature where possible.
📏 Calibration order: Always start with pH 7.0 before using pH 4.0 or pH 10.0 buffers.
🧴 Storage: Keep the bottle tightly sealed in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
🚫 Avoid contamination: If the solution becomes cloudy or contaminated, discard it.
