A deep madder-red ground, cream borders worked in classical floral motif, indigo-blue blossom accents that catch the light differently than the red field. The Red & Cream 1.5-million-point Persian is the dressed face of the tradition — the rug that anchors a room and dresses it formal at the same time.
Red-with-cream-borders is the canonical Tabriz and Kashan palette — the rug that anchors most depictions of "Persian rug" in Western design history. The deep red comes from the madder-root dye traditions of Iranian and Anatolian weaving, where root-derived reds were prized for their depth and lightfastness; the indigo blue of the floral accents is the same indigo that carried the formal court compositions. Our 1.5-million-point edition draws from that lineage with a contemporary Turkish weave — pairing the classical formal vocabulary with construction durable enough for an active Sacramento household.
This is our highest-density Persian-inspired tier — about 25% denser than our standard 1200-reed line. On a red-ground floral composition the density is what carries the detail: at lower densities the indigo blossom-work muddies into the red field and the cream border-work loses its crispness. At 1.5 million points the floral detail reads cleanly at viewing distance, the cream border holds its line, and the pile carries the cushioned, slightly weighted feel of a hand-knotted antique. Madder-derived red is also the most light-stable of the saturated colours — this palette ages well in rooms with strong window light.

Red-and-cream is a formal palette — the rug is meant to be the room's anchor, not its accent. Pair with dark-walnut or mahogany floors and cognac leather for a traditional library; with cream upholstery, brass picture-lights, and Chinoiserie porcelain for an English-country dining room; with ivory linens, dark-walnut furniture, and a single brass-and-crystal pendant for a dressed transitional living room. Avoid pairing with Scandinavian-neutral schemes, polished chrome, or pale-grey upholstery — the saturated red will read as a fight rather than a focal point.
Formal living rooms, dining rooms, libraries, and master bedrooms in homes where the goal is dressed traditional or anchored-classical. Particularly suited to interiors with dark-wood furniture, leather seating, brass accents, or ivory linens. Forgiving in high-traffic rooms — the saturated red palette is the most wear-resistant in the line, and the pattern hides the everyday marks that a pale ground would show immediately.
The 1.5-million-point line is the upper end of our Persian-inspired curation — represented in Sacramento by a small group of palettes (red-and-cream, cream-and-brown, light blue, soft cream, and navy). If you'd like to compare them side by side or see the pile in person, our Carmichael showroom holds representative pieces.
