How does an Adjustable Spreader Beam Work?

Usually Suspended by a two-leg Wire Rope Sling connected to the top pad-eyes/end-caps of the beam via shackles (sold separately). The beam itself is telescopic and the inner pipe can extend the length of the beam assembly to create a more versatile multi-use beam. This is easily extended by removing the retaining and adjustment pins, extending the inner pipe and replacing the pins.

How do you use an Adjustable Spreader Bar?

Using your new adjustable bar is easy. It comes very ready-to-use and has been proof load tested (Tandemloc even have the video if you'd like to see it!) You'll need at least 4 shackles to suit the capacity and pin diameter depending on your beam rating and end cap hole diameter, whilst the beam is on the ground remove the retaining pin and adjustment pin which will enable free sliding of the telescopic pipe which enables the adjustment of the length of the beam.

What type of loads should I use an Adjustable Spreader Beam for?

You should use an adjustable spreader beam on any load that traditionally requires a spreader. The added advantage is that you can take this beam and use it on a variety of different lifts and applications which demand different sizes due to the configuration or size of the load. Loads which are particularly bulky and require lifting from the side or bottom, some loads being lifted from the top require them too, but it depends on each application, this type of rigging if often used on unique and challenging loads to reduce pressure on the rigging and avoid damage to the load from the forces exherted on the chains and rigging when it rubs against the load- having an Adjustable Spreader Beam prevents this issue when setup correctly.
