The armadillo looks unique with its thick dermal shield armor. These scales cover its entire body; only its pointed nose and eyes are exposed. You can tell by its long nose: the armadillo has an excellent sense of smell and can even track insects when they are deep underground. Heat is not a problem for it. It feels at home in South America and is accustomed to warm days. The armadillo is an unmistakable sight and lives up to its name. It has probably sniffed out something tasty with its good nose. Its favorite snacks are insects. When it dives into an underground burrow to catch them, it can hold its breath for up to six minutes! But after that, it has truly earned its meal.
