The polar bear is a large bear species native to the ice fields of the Arctic Ocean. It is the largest bear species in the world (with the exception of Kodiak brown bears found in Alaska, which can reach similar sizes) with males often weighing around 600 kg. The polar bear is thought to be closely related to the brown bear, the name of the polar bear actually means "sea bear" as they are known to not only spend much time close to the coast, but are also strong and adept swimmers who have been seen up to 100 miles from the nearest ice or land. 7 x 4 x 3.5 cm
