Lovely. Likely this was one page from a larger hair album, but perfect as found, protected in this period frame, with each of the hair locks/wreaths labeled and secured with a ribbon, and a handwritten verse by Sally Dart tying it all together. My little mind does not expand / Nor recognize another land / Since I am here & your [sic] are there / I send my little lock of hair. With the name Eliza J. Canada labeling the lock at top seeming just right in speaking of other lands! To me this one is of just the right scale and conciseness, very sweet, c. 1840s or so I believe.
6 5/8" x 4 3/4" framed as found. Good condition, with a little rippling to the paper, visible top edge of the paper, and some toning along the far right edge--all of a piece with it. Nice period lemon gold frame. Under glass, strung on the back for hanging.
