Three-quarters of century elapse between the criminal and the discovery - a rusty nail and a skull found in a Holborn churchyard connect with a very ancient and autocratic dame in the wilds of Cornwall and justice will be done - or at least, murder will out. This is a story packed full of adventures by land and sea, hairbreadth escapes, brawls with smugglers and ship-wreckers,m mystic caverns, weird isolated houses, Bow Street runners - and plenty of comedy and tragedy.
