Background of Sasuke's Sword of Kusanagi

Sasuke Uchiha is a shinobi of Konoha in the anime and manga series Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden. A friend and rival to Naruto Uzumaki himself, Sasuke is driven by an unquenchable thirst for strength to allow him to exact revenge on his powerful older brother Itachi. Sasuke is a master shinobi and swordsman who wields a straight sword (chokuto) named the 'Sword of Kusanagi' (the 'Grass Cutter' / 'Grasscutter' / 'Grass-Mower'). The name is referring to the 'Kusanagi no Tsurugi', one of the Imperial Regalia of Japan.
