An absolutely superb Omega Speedmaster Model Ref: CK 2915-1 in incredibly well-preserved condition with stunning pumpkin lume, sold with an Omega extract of archive, issued 1958
The Omega Speedmaster, introduced in 1957 as a rugged racing chronograph, soon earned legendary status far beyond the track. By the mid-1960s it had become NASA’s official choice for manned spaceflight, surviving the agency’s notoriously brutal qualification tests. Worn on the Moon in 1969 by Buzz Aldrin, the Speedmaster became the first—and only—watch flight-certified for EVA. Today, it remains an icon of precision engineering, reliability, and true exploration heritage.
What's on Offer
We are absolutely thrilled to present this exceptionally rare Omega Speedmaster CK 2915-1 — the very first iteration of the Speedmaster, produced on 9 January 1958 and powered by the legendary Calibre 321. This reference is the genesis of the entire Speedmaster lineage and, as collectors know, examples of this quality are astonishingly scarce.
This watch retains its original rich black dial, beautifully preserved with three recessed counters: a 30-minute recorder, a 12-hour totaliser, and a running seconds sub-dial, all designed for precise timing long before the Speedmaster became synonymous with space exploration. The broad, chunky hands are filled with their original lume, as are the hour indices; the material has mellowed into a gorgeous, even pumpkin patina that only the most desirable early examples display.
As is typical of the earliest CK 2915s, the original steel bezel design was prone to detaching — a well-known flaw — and this example has therefore been fitted with a high-quality modern reproduction. Everything else, however, is correct and original, including the rare flat-foot crown and the Omega-signed Plexiglas crystal. The watch is paired with a vintage Omega strap boasting a corresponding Omega pin buckle.
Two pump pushers flank the crown, controlling the chronograph: the top pusher starts and stops the timing function, while the lower pusher resets the chronograph to zero — a simple, functional design that helped define the Speedmaster as the tool chronograph of its era.
To further cement its provenance, the watch is accompanied by an Extract of the Archives from Omega, confirming its originality and production date. Condition is superb throughout, especially given its importance and age.
This is a once-in-a-generation collector’s piece — a museum-worthy CK 2915-1 that marks the true beginning of the Speedmaster story. Early Speedmasters simply do not surface like this anymore. An extraordinary opportunity for any serious collector.
