Chevron beads are a unique type of Venetian bead, invented in the late 1400s by Maria Barovier on the island of Murano, Italy. While Venetian beads often employ ancient techniques, chevron beads are noted for their distinct, original Venetian craftsmanship. They can have up to 10 layers, with blue being the most common color, while red, green, and black chevron beads are considered rare. The term "chevron" means "V-shaped," and these beads are also known as star beads or rosetta beads. Later, chevron beads began to be produced in the Netherlands as well.
