Chevron beads are crafted using a technique invented in the late 1400s by Maria Barovier on the island of Murano, Italy. While Venetian bead techniques often draw from ancient methods, the Chevron bead technique is uniquely Venetian. Chevron beads have been found with up to 10 layers and are predominantly blue, with red, green, and black being more rare. The name "Chevron" refers to their zigzag pattern, and they are also known as Star Beads or Rosetta Beads. This distinct bead-making technique was later adopted in the Netherlands as well.
