This compact monitoring and recording solution is designed to add professional video and audio capabilities to any SDI or HDMI camera. Combining four essential tools in one unit, it functions as a high‑quality on‑camera monitor, a broadcast‑grade recorder, a portable waveform and vector scope, and a reliable camera viewfinder. Its small form factor and lightweight design make it well suited for handheld rigs, gimbals, studio cameras and mobile production setups.
The integrated 5‑inch LCD touchscreen provides a clear, responsive interface powered by Blackmagic OS. The display supports advanced focus and exposure tools such as focus peaking, zebra, false colour and frame guides, helping operators achieve precise focus and accurate exposure in fast‑paced shooting environments. On‑screen professional scopes including waveform, vectorscope, histogram and RGB parade can be displayed as overlays or picture‑in‑picture, allowing detailed signal analysis without interrupting monitoring.
Recording is handled internally to standard SD cards, using industry‑proven codecs that integrate seamlessly into post‑production workflows. Files are captured in 10‑bit 4:2:2 Apple ProRes or Avid DNxHD formats at resolutions up to 1080p60, ensuring excellent image quality with manageable file sizes. Because the files are standard, they can be edited immediately without transcoding. The device supports SDXC and SDHC UHS‑I cards, offering broad media compatibility and easy replacement in the field.
Connectivity includes both 3G‑SDI and HDMI inputs, making the unit compatible with a wide range of cameras from broadcast, cinema and mirrorless systems. Embedded audio, timecode and trigger recording via SDI or HDMI are supported, allowing seamless synchronisation with camera operation. A USB‑C connection enables use as a webcam, as well as initial setup and firmware updates using the Video Assist Utility.
Power is supplied via Sony NP‑F L‑series batteries for extended portable use, or through the included universal power supply with international adapters. This flexibility ensures reliable operation in studio environments as well as on location, making it a versatile addition to any camera workflow.
