This high density standards converter is designed for modern IP based broadcast environments where flexibility, reliability and signal integrity are critical. It allows up to eight independent video channels to be converted simultaneously between any SD, HD or Ultra HD television standard, making it possible to unify mixed format sources without adding latency or complexity to the workflow. All processing is handled natively over SMPTE 2110, allowing seamless integration into professional IP production networks.
Connectivity is based on dual 100G Ethernet interfaces using QSFP28, providing extremely high bandwidth for uncompressed video, audio and ancillary data. These dual connections support full SMPTE 2022 7 seamless protection switching, so identical streams can be sent across two independent networks. If one path fails, the unit reconstructs every frame from the remaining packets without visible or audible disruption, ensuring uninterrupted broadcast operation.
Each channel supports 10 bit 4:2:2 video with embedded audio and full ancillary data, including timecode, closed captions and HDR static metadata. A wide range of formats is supported, from legacy SD through to Ultra HD up to 2160p60, with precise synchronization maintained using PTP in accordance with ST 2059. This makes the converter suitable for both live production and critical infrastructure roles in studios, OB vans and central facilities.
Control and configuration are simplified through a dedicated 1G Ethernet port for NMOS, keeping management traffic isolated from the high bandwidth media network. The front panel includes a clear display, built in speaker and headphone output, allowing engineers to monitor video and audio directly at the rack without additional equipment. Quiet front to back cooling and dual redundant AC power supplies ensure stable 24 7 operation in densely populated racks.
