Aeval is the fairy queen of Munster in Ireland. Her name is also spelled Aoibheal or Aoibhell and is pronounced 'eeval', meaning “beautiful”. Craig Liath/Craiglea (gray rock), in County Clare, is her sacred place. People with the surname O'Brien are said to be her descendants. The name literallly means “burning fire”.

She was a Goddess in the Irish Celtic Pantheon who was “demoted” to Faery Queen by the Early Christians. AEVAL possessed a magic harp, and it was believed that whoever heard the harps music would not live long afterward.
