The latest in the series by Jaime Martin, who became Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Yevre Symphony Orchestra in 2013, is a tribute to the works of Brahms, a subject he has been working on for years. When Klemperer approached Schoenberg in 1937 with the idea of orchestrating this piece, he accepted without hesitation, transforming a small work into a grand symphony. The arrangement is sometimes referred to as "Brahms's orchestration". The arrangement was so successful that it is sometimes referred to as "Brahms' Fifth Symphony," and it has become so familiar that it is often heard in modern concerts. English composer Parry's "Elegy" is a mournful piece of music written by Parry after hearing the news of Brahms' death. It was not performed during Parry's lifetime, and although it was performed once after his death in 1918, it was not performed again until 1977.
