The violin is one of the most familiar instruments in Fylland, where there is a tradition of perimanni, or violin players, playing festive music at weddings. Music for violin has been created in various fields, from folk music to classical music. This album introduces a variety of "light music" popular from the 1930s to the 1960s, and offers beautiful pieces that are widely loved but are no longer heard. Most of the composers, including de Godinsky, who was active as an arranger and pianist, have been forgotten as well as their works, but among them are Uno Krami's folk-like "Esquisse", which is considered the most important piece in the history of Finnish music after Sibelius, and Heino Kaski, who was famous as a pianist. The album also includes such valuable works as "Fantasia Appassionata" by Heino Kaski, who was a renowned pianist. This is a disc where one can enjoy these gems of small pieces full of lyrical atmosphere. La Tempesta Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1997 on the stage of the Oulunsalo Music Festival, which is presided over by pianist Izumi Tateno in Finland.Janne Tateno, son of Izumi Tateno, is the concertmaster of the orchestra, which is expanding its activities in Finland and abroad.
