Conductor Paavo Järvi is not only a strong presence on hinoki-stage around the world, but is also well known in Japan as the conductor of the NHK Symphony Orchestra. Recently, he has been playing more and more wonderful music with an air that approaches that of his father, Némé. This album, Järvi's first appearance on the ALPHA label, features Shostakovich with the Estonian Festival Orchestra, the best orchestra in his homeland.
