This is a collection of American choral works composed over a period of almost 70 years, from the 1940s to the 2010s. It includes the well-known "Chichester Psalms" by Bernstein, as well as an interesting array of works in a variety of styles, including jazz and gospel. Marley's "Bright Mass and Canon" and Castellanos' "Eternal Light" are world premiere recordings, selected by John Scott, who has been ambitiously recording contemporary American choral works.
