The young dancer Ekaterina Zapagova was chosen to play the leading role, and her unconventional portrayal of Juliet as a natural and lovely character resonated with many audiences. In 2017, this production not only won the "Golden Mask Award" for "Best Ballet Performance" for outstanding Russian performing arts, but also the "Best Male Dancer" award for Igor Blitsyn, who portrayed Mercutio. The contrast and harmony between the graceful and beautiful chore de ballet and the soft and natural movements of the two main characters is a great attraction.
