Stuttgart Winds
Description:
Harmonie Musik' is a general term for wind ensembles, a form that was popular among the aristocracy, especially in Germany, in the 1780s. In order to entertain their guests at meals and other events, the nobility would send musicians to arrange and perform the most advanced operatic melodies of the day, and many arrangements for wind ensembles are known to have appeared. Andreas N. Tulcman was born in 1956 in Hanover. He is also known as an arranger, and his skillful arrangements of Wagner's "Ring" and the chamber ensemble version of Berg's Violin Concerto have been the talk of the town. This time, he arranges the famous melodies of Lortzing's operas for wind ensemble, and gives us a fresh look at the joy and splendor of Lortzing's works, which are rarely performed these days.
