Description:
Although Liszt is often associated with the image of a "Hungarian composer," in reality his parents were German immigrants, and he himself could not speak Hungarian. However, Liszt himself cherished his "Hungarian identity" throughout his life. He had a tumultuous and eventful life, but his health deteriorated as he grew older, and his last years were not a happy one, as he was rejected by Hungary, which he recognized as his homeland. However, his works became more free, and his "Forgotten Waltz" and some of his czardasz are known for their break from tonality and avant-garde style that is relevant to the present day. The series of works here is performed by Croatian pianist Goran Filipec, who is highly acclaimed for his Liszt works. He plays the difficult pieces with brilliant technique. Naxos Japan
