Description:
[Toru Takemitsu: 25 Years After His Death UHQCD Masterpiece Selection] To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the death of Toru Takemitsu, one of Japan's most famous composers, Deutsche Grammophon and Decca have carefully selected and reissued the masterpieces of his works. These 10 titles include albums that have been difficult to obtain in recent years, all of which are being reissued on UHQCD for the first time. This series is the best way to trace the achievements of a man who left behind many masterpieces in a wide variety of styles. The series includes "Ritani," composed in mourning for the death of a friend; "Uninterrupted Rest," titled after a poem from Shuzo Takiguchi's collection "The Fairy's Distance;" "Piano Distance," with its impressive piano softness, lingering notes, and silence; "For Away," influenced by gamelan music; "Closed Eyes," inspired by a painting by Redon; "Rain," inspired by a novel by Kenzaburo Oe; and "The Rain," a piece of music inspired by the works of the late Oe. The Rain Tree: Sketches" was inspired by Kenzaburo Oe's novel. This album commemorates the composer's 60th birthday and features all of Toru Takemitsu's solo piano pieces written before this recording was made, performed by Kumi Kogano. Green color label coated. [Performed by Kumi Kogano (piano) Recorded: February 1990 at Partinon Tama
