Description:

Tallis & Striggio! Polyphony with a super-multitude of voices! The Cambridge Gonville & Keys College Choir, with its astonishingly wide repertoire and stable harmonies, is the most popular choir in the world. The Armonico Consort, a choir founded in 2001 that can accommodate a wide variety of compositions and programs at a high level, including small and large groups, chorus only and with orchestra. Two of the UK's most renowned ensembles have come together to record polyphonic music for 40 and 60 voices, a very large number of voices! The two ensembles have recorded a masterpiece of "super-sized" polyphony, Thomas Tallis' 40-voice motet "Spem in Alium," and Alessandro Striggio's 40- and 60-voice Mass, which was lost for about 400 years and discovered in Paris in modern times. The program is centered around the 40- and 60-voice mass "A Happy Day" by Alessandro Striggio, which was lost for about 400 years and only discovered in Paris in modern times, and the 40-voice motet "Behold the Light of Bliss," also by Striggio. The numerous voices are intricately intertwined to form a magnificent polyphony, making this a great choral art of the 16th century. Tokyo M-Plus
