In this 4-hour introduction to Continuous Flow, students will get an overview of cellular production and learn how to plan and implement continuous flow cells. We will review the specific steps to design and establish flexible work cells by defining products that “flow” together to optimize layouts for the best communication and feedback. We will discuss batch and queue-type production and show how continuous flow differs and how by eliminating “lot delay and process delay” we can significantly reduce lead times. We will also discuss how standardized work can help in the development as well as other tools to plan Continuous Flow in your work areas.
